WORLD WITHOUT END
Conway woke with a start. He lay on his stomach, sweating, the white bed sheet tangled around him like a vine and sticking to his bare skin, his heart pumping with a frantic energy, as if it were mustering all of its strength to ward off a familiar and powerful enemy. "Bad dream?" Pasha asked, her English flawless. She lay in bed with her back facing him, her voice clear and strong, always strong. "The thing with Armand was a fluke. An accident," Pasha said. "You survived it." Barely, a voice reminded him. "There's a lot riding on today," Conway said. "Two years of work. I want to make sure it goes down right. Toward the end there was a mention of a military camouflage that could render people invisible. The idea for the book came together one day when I happened to be walking by the Holocaust Memorial here in Boston. I saw an old and sort of sickly man close his eyes and press his hand against the glass. I could have sworn that the man was smiling, and the idea for Amon Faustand his plans for this military combat suitcame from there. REVIEWS An espionage thriller that rings alarmingly true, especially in depicting the ways technology can be perverted to deadly uses. Timely and thought-provoking. Booklist In Mooney's second nonstop action thriller... his imagination leaves nothing to be desired. Publishers Weekly |
